POSITION SUMMARY

The Atlas Data Engineer is responsible for writing and maintaining the Atlas SQL codebase and its data integrations. They take the requirements from the data team and transform them into datasets that can be used in Power BI reports, Azure datasets, or ad-hoc analysis. They may need to do research on definitions and data structures. The Data Engineer works with the data team to produce datasets that drive essential business functions.

 

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Assembling large, complex sets of data that meet non-functional and functional business requirements.
  • Identifying, designing and implementing internal process improvements, including re-designing infrastructure for greater scalability, optimizing data delivery, and automating manual processes.
  • Building required infrastructure for optimal extraction, transformation, and loading of data from various data sources using Fivetran, Snowflake, and DBT technologies.
  • Building analytical tools to utilize the data pipeline, providing actionable insight into key business performance metrics including operational efficiency and customer acquisition.
  • Working with stakeholders including data, design, product and executive teams and assisting them with data-related technical issues.
  • Working with stakeholders including the executive and data teams to support their data infrastructure needs while assisting with data-related technical issues.
  • Integrating new data sources into Snowflake using Fivetran, both with prebuilt connectors and by writing in -house connectors.
  • Making connections between disparate datasets.
  • Work extensively with Data Analyst to create Power BI reports from datasets.
  • Understand underlying business concepts and implement logic in datasets/view.

 

MINIMUN QUALIFICATIONS

  • 5 years experience with complex SQL, including performance tuning, window functions, views, stored procedures.
  • 1 year experience with Agile software development.
  • Strong communication and documentation skills.

 

PREFERED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s Degree in computer science, Data Analytics, etc. is preferred.
  • Strong working knowledge and experience with Snowflake, Fivetran, and DBT, data design experience in Microsoft Azure.
  • Must be extremely adept at SQL, including performance tuning, window functions, views, and stored procedures.
  • Must be able to write queries without a complete data dictionary, making inferences, and testing hypotheses about data and its structures with little direct supervision.

  • Needs adequate visual acuity, ability to grasp and handle objects.

SCOPE AND COMPLEXITY

  • This position involves maintaining an SQL code repository, along with team members, that analysts can use to deliver data driven results to stakeholders. ETL via Fivetran will make raw data available. Work is performed in a fast-paced multitasked environment where there may be conflicting priorities or tight deadlines. Requires excellent communication with data team and stakeholders, including maintaining detailed documentation. Maintains and applies a broad expert knowledge of company business line needs, policies, procedures, and legal and regulatory requirements.

 



Compensation: $86,000 - $110,000
