POSITION SUMMARY
The Accountant Corporate II is responsible for numerous areas of accounting and reporting for the Corporate entity and multiple surgery center facilities, including month close, financial analysis, and ad hoc projects.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Month close cycle
- journal entry preparation
- expense review and analysis
- cash accounting and bank reconciliations
- fixed asset and CIP accounting
- prepaid asset accounting
- complex tasks such as lease accounting, allocations, enterprise-level reconciliations
- actively participate in monthly operating review calls with facility leaders and operations management
- provide high-quality customer service to corporate department and facility leaders regarding accounting inquiries.
- payroll accounting
Financial analysis
- prepare financial reporting package.
- financial statement flux/variance research and analysis
Ad hoc/impromptu projects and other responsibilities
- assist departments outside of accounting with various projects and requests.
- research accounting guidance and make recommendations.
- documentation of policies and procedures
- creative work in implementing/improving accounting processes.
- participate in enterprise-level process improvements.
- work closely with payroll team to maintain accounting structure and mapping in payroll system.
- work closely with treasury team to ensure cash transfers are recorded timely.
- set up state payroll tax accounts.
- support the annual 401k audit.
- maintain corporate allocations and ensure methodology is consistent with management agreements.
- Performs all functions according to established policies, procedures, regulatory and accreditation requirements, as well as applicable professional standards.
- Provides all customers with an excellent service experience by consistently demonstrating our core and leader behaviors each and every day.

SCOPE AND COMPLEXITY
Works independently under general supervision, following defined standards and procedures. Reports to a Supervisor or Manager. Uses critical thinking skills to solve problems and reconcile accounts in a timely manner. External customers include all hospital patients, patient families, and all third-party payers. Internal customers include facility medical records and patient financial services staff, attorneys, and central services staff members.

- Requires extensive sitting with periodic standing and walking.
- May be required to lift up to 20 pounds.
- Requires significant use of personal computer, phone and general office equipment.
- Needs adequate visual acuity, ability to grasp and handle objects.
- Needs ability to communicate effectively through reading, writing, and speaking in person or on telephone.
- May require off-site travel.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- BS in Accounting/Finance
- 3-5 years in Accounting (may vary depending on specialized/public accounting experience).
- Demonstrate initiative and ability to work independently with minimal daily direction from management.
- Able to operate both independently and as part of a larger functional team.
- Organizational capacity to manage deadlines and conflicting priorities in a dynamic work environment.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Additional education and experience preferred. CPA License.
