Chief Nursing Officer (CNO)

Atlas is seeking a dynamic and experienced Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) to join our Corporate Leadership Team and provide strategic, enterprise‑wide clinical oversight across our growing portfolio of Ambulatory Surgery Centers (ASCs). This executive leader will guide clinical performance, regulatory and accreditation readiness, and the seamless integration and onboarding of newly acquired or developed ASCs.

 

The CNO serves as the champion of patient safety, clinical excellence, and standardization, ensuring each ASC upholds the highest levels of quality, compliance, and operational effectiveness. This leader will also oversee productivity and staffing optimization across the network, including strategic leadership of the ASC Float Pool business line, to support flexible, efficient clinical coverage that meets the demands of a rapidly expanding organization.

Working in close partnership with operational leaders and physician stakeholders, the CNO will drive clinical innovation, elevate workforce development, and strengthen a high‑performance culture centered on delivering outstanding patient care.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Chief Nursing Officer  is a member of the Senior Leadership Team responsible for patient safety and clinical outcomes, regulatory and accreditation services, clinical education, and patient & physician experience.  They will drive improvement in in these areas by developing the resources, training, and tools that reduce unnecessary variation and improve outcomes in accordance with state, federal and accrediting body regulations and are consistent with the mission, vision, and values of Atlas. The SVPCS will ensure through monitoring and communication the effective compliance with and utilization of the resources, training and tools provided by clinical services. Under the direction of the COO, the SVPCS is responsible for the oversight of clinical services, accreditation services, clinical risk management and patient & physician experience. 

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Ensures compliance and effective delivery of clinical services and departments under supervision as set forth in the Atlas Management Services Agreement
  • Sets the direction of clinical services and ensures effective and efficient operations of all departments under their supervision including clinical services, regulatory & accreditation services, clinical education, and patient & physician experience.
  • Develops and implements programs to measure, assess, and improve the quality and effectiveness of clinical care provided by the organization.  Responsible for effectively trending performance and communicating effectiveness of efforts to the executive leadership, JV Partners and overall organization.
  • Evaluates clinical services processes across the organization for quality, cost effectiveness, efficiency, and regulatory. compliance, and effectively implements measures to streamline operations and reduce unnecessary efforts.
  • Has an executive command and understanding of departmental operating budgets for departments under supervision, analyzes variances, develops plans, and takes appropriate actions for productivity and performance improvements both within and across departments.
  • Oversees the effective provision of clinical care provided by Atlas in all surgery center locations, which includes establishing clinical standards, protocols, policies, and monitoring of overall performance according to accreditation standards.
  • Provides leadership and oversight of the clinical education team to develop, maintain, and optimize new hire orientation and ongoing clinical education programs that meet or exceed regulatory guidelines and expectations as well as the needs of a diverse patient population.
  • Works effectively as a team member in a dynamic executive environment and promotes teamwork within and across the organization by maintaining positive relationships and utilizing effective problem-solving skills.
  • Maintains knowledge and achieves compliance with federal, state, and local regulatory requirements, licensure, accreditation requirements, record procedures, and internal controls; regularly informs and updates staff on organizational and industry issues.
  • Partners with JV Market Leadership to promote JV Partnership relationships and ensure effective performance and communication with JV Partners.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master's degree in Nursing, Business Administration, Healthcare Finance or Hospital Administration
  • State licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)
  • Minimum of 10 years related work experience required to include senior clinical leader experience in multisite environment.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing, facilitating, and leading scalable clinical programs and initiatives aligned with organizational goals and objectives
  • Comprehensive knowledge of effective best practices in nursing operations, regulations, and guidelines
  • Highly effective interpersonal and communication skills

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Doctoral Degree preferred (DNP or PhD)
  • Multisite Clinical Management experience
  • ASC senior clinical leadership experience


Compensation: $262,721 - $309,083
