POSITION SUMMARY

The Director, M&A will be responsible for managing and leading all financial modeling aspects and will provide oversight on all proforma and valuation efforts across development initiatives throughout existing and new markets. Working closely with cross-functional teams and senior leadership, the Director ensures that all initiatives are financially sound, compliant, and aligned with Atlas Healthcare Partners’ mission, vision, and values. Success in this role requires a strong analytical mindset, deep financial expertise, and a collaborative approach to driving results in a fast-paced, high-growth healthcare environment.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Lead financial modeling and valuation efforts for all development initiatives, including pro formas, acquisition analyses, and de novo assessments
  • Provide leadership, mentorship, and oversight to the M&A financial analyst team, ensuring high-quality output, professional development, and alignment with strategic goals. Foster a collaborative and performance-driven culture, set clear expectations, and support analysts in delivering accurate and insightful financial models and analyses.
  • Oversee end-to-end due diligence processes for acquisitions, ensuring all findings are tied back to the valuation and applicable legal documents
  • Conduct early-stage evaluations for new market opportunities
  • Collaborate with Strategy Growth and Development team in creating comprehensive network models to support strategic planning with prospective and existing health system partners, aligning expansion plans with market dynamics and partner objectives
  • Prepare and present pro-formas of potential acquisition targets to senior management in order to gain approval of projects
  • Prepare pro-formas to assess viability of denovo facilities through modeling of project costs, working capital, financial statements and cash flow
  • Assist FP&A in developing annual budgets for new ASCs during the annual budget planning process
  • Develop relationships with and provide excellent customer service to Development Leads and Regional/Senior VPs
  • Perform post-opening/post-close lookback analyses comparing actual results to projections, identifying drivers of variance, and providing insights to improve forecasting accuracy and operational performance
  • Develop models for existing operational sites on a as needed basis, including syndications, restructuring, and physician buy-ins/buy-outs; evaluate capital investment impacts; and provide scenario planning for site-level strategic decisions
  • Provide scenario planning for operational decision-making
  • Assist with other projects as assigned

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field; CPA or equivalent certification preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in mergers and acquisitions, corporate finance, strategic development, or related field.
  • Proven ability to lead financial modeling, valuation, and due diligence efforts for complex transactions
  • Strong understanding of financial statements, cash flow analysis, and capital investment impacts
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex financial concepts clearly to diverse audiences, including executive leadership
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Strong presentation skills for one-on-one meetings, executive briefings, and large group settings
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously with effective time management and organizational skills

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

 

  • Master’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field (MBA or MHA strongly preferred)
  • 7+ years of progressive experience in mergers and acquisitions, investment banking, corporate development, or healthcare finance
  • Experience in healthcare services, ambulatory surgery centers (ASCs), or provider-based organizations
  • Advanced proficiency in financial modeling and valuation techniques
  • Familiarity with healthcare regulatory environments and payer/provider dynamics

This position has full managerial scope and authority for employment actions, including coaching, candidate selection, training and development, performance appraisals, work assignments, and disciplinary action.

 

SCOPE AND COMPLEXITY

The Director, Mergers and Acquisitions plays a critical leadership role in driving strategic growth initiatives across the enterprise. This position oversees a team of financial analysts and is responsible for the development and execution of complex financial models, valuations, and due diligence processes for acquisitions, de novo projects, and strategic partnerships. The role requires a high level of cross-functional collaboration, influencing senior leadership decisions, and aligning financial strategy with organizational goals. The Director must navigate varying state regulations and ensure compliance with employment and healthcare laws, while managing multiple concurrent projects in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
