POSITION SUMMARY
The President of ASC Operations is responsible for national strategy, growth, and performance of Atlas’s ambulatory surgery center portfolio. Reporting to the CEO, this role drives enterprise-wide growth, facilitates partnership relations, operational and clinical excellence, ensures regulatory compliance, and scales a consistent, high-performing infrastructure across multiple markets. The President leads Market Presidents, partners with health systems and physician leadership, and serves as a key architect for expansion, acquisitions, and integration while advancing Atlas’s mission and strategic priorities.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Enterprise Strategy & Operating Model
- Establishes, implements, and communicates the enterprise ASC strategy and operating model; aligns market plans to Atlas’s vision and financial goals.
- Builds national playbooks and standards of practice (clinical, operational, financial) that are repeatable, reliable, and reportable.
- Partners with the COO and Executive Leadership to translate strategic priorities into annual operating plans and multi-year roadmaps.
Growth, Market Entry & M&A Integration
- Leads cross-functional teams to evaluate, acquire, and integrate new facilities; oversees expansion, new builds, lease agreements, and capacity planning.
- Guides service line development, site-of-service shifts, and market configuration to drive access and revenue growth.
- Develops and executes physician recruitment/partnership strategies and health system joint ventures; presents partnership value propositions and navigates competing interests.
Operational Excellence & Performance Management
- Owns enterprise performance management: sets KPIs, targets, dashboards, and cadence for Market Presidents and Centers; monitors and ensures achievement of annual operating plans.
- Leads multi-market programs in operations, IT/digital, marketing, patient experience, patient access, revenue cycle, and process improvement.
- Implements Lean/Six Sigma and continuous improvement methodology to reduce variation and cost, improve throughput, and elevate outcomes.
Clinical Quality, Safety & Compliance
- Ensures overall compliance with legal, regulatory, accreditation, and quality requirements across all centers (e.g., CMS Conditions for Coverage, AAAHC, Joint Commission, state licensure).
- Establishes enterprise systems to verify adherence to policies, goals, and objectives; responds proactively to audits and survey readiness.
Financial Stewardship
- Owns enterprise ASC P&L accountability; optimizes case mix, utilization, productivity, supply chain, and capital deployment.
- Reviews and approves major capital investments, facility decisions, and resource allocation consistent with Atlas’s strategic and financial plans.
- Provides strategic guidance for contracts; negotiates and approves agreements in collaboration with Managed Care and Legal.
Stakeholder & Governance Leadership
- Builds and maintains effective executive relationships with health system and physician leadership, Board Members, and key external partners.
- Co-leads or participates in joint governance structures to ensure aligned decision-making, performance, and compliance.
People Leadership, Culture & Engagement
- Hires, develops, mentors, and evaluates Market Presidents and Regional leaders; creates succession plans and talent pipelines for critical roles.
- Drives physician engagement and satisfaction programs; promotes a culture of safety, inclusion, accountability, and high performance.
- Elevates employee engagement and retention through targeted programs and leadership behaviors.
Digital, Data & Revenue Cycle Enablement
- Sponsors data and analytics strategies to enable real-time performance visibility and resource optimization.
- Partners with IT, RCM, and Clinical leaders to advance EHR/EPM optimization, automation, interoperability, and denial management.
Risk Management & Enterprise Resilience
- Identifies and mitigates strategic, operational, clinical, financial, regulatory, and cybersecurity risks.
- Ensures business continuity planning and escalation protocols across markets.
Brand & External Representation
- Serves as a senior ambassador for Atlas at industry events and with external stakeholders; supports marketing strategies to grow volume, reputation, and loyalty.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Education: Master’s Degree in a relevant field required.
- Experience: 12–15+ years of progressive leadership in healthcare operations with strong financial acumen; 8+ years in senior executive roles (e.g., SVP/President) overseeing multi-site ASC or outpatient operations.
- Demonstrated success in strategic planning, market expansion, M&A, and integration; experience scaling an innovative service-oriented business model. Strong knowledge of fiscal management, business finance, capital planning, contracts, partnerships, and corporate governance.
- Sound understanding of risk management and regulatory frameworks applicable to ASCs.
- Proven leadership skills with a focus on mentoring and motivating a professional workforce within a matrixed environment.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Lean/Six Sigma certification and experience with enterprise analytics tools.

Success requires harmonizing competing priorities, driving compliance and accreditation readiness, mitigating risks, and delivering scalable, data-driven solutions that enhance access, quality, and profitability. The President also represents Atlas externally and develops high-performing Market Presidents and Regional leaders to sustain growth and resilience across the organization.
